Our founders, Barry and Jim met while coaching travel baseball.  After many long days at the ball field, found a passion together of enjoying well-crafted bundles of aged tobacco.

After many days and even more sticks, the two decided it was time to take the passion of cigars to the next level and founded Black Rock Cigar Co.

​

The goal for Black Rock Cigar Co. is a simple one.  Create well-balanced, everyday cigars that please the palates of those new to cigars and those that have been enjoying them for ages.

​

No shortcuts will be taken, No leaf unrolled, No stick unsmoked.

​

Black Rock Cigar Co. is rooted in the coal region of Central Pennsylvania where Jim was born and raised.  Growing up in a town between massive coal mountains and having ancestors who have both worked and died in coal mines.  

​

Coal miners are notorious for their work ethic, never-give-up attitude and long days and nights away from their loved ones.  This is why Jim and Barry feel they owe it to the legacy of coal miners to provide the very best experience they can.  If Black Rock Cigar Co. existed back in the boon of the coal mines in Central PA, they envision those miners would have reached for one of their cigars to wind down after a long shift.

So, grab a stick, cut it clean, toast the cap and let your mind drift away while paying homage to those miners and breaker boys.
